The idea for Dapper Guru began thousands of miles from Montana, in the heat and dust of Iraq.
I was shaving with the same harsh creams and disposable razors every day, and I realized something simple: men deserve better.
Better products. Better scents. Something made with care, not mass production.

Serving in the U.S. military taught me discipline, attention to detail, and the value of tools that perform when it matters most. After leaving the Army, I found myself searching for a new mission: a purpose that combined craftsmanship, creativity, and focus. That search eventually led me to the craft of soapmaking and fragrance.

What started as curiosity became a deep study of formulation, raw materials, and scent blending. I began experimenting with oils, butters, and fragrances, learning how to build products from the ground up. The more I worked with scent, the more fascinated I became by its power to evoke places, memories, and moods. Woods, tobacco, leather, smoke, spirits, scents that feel grounded, masculine, and distinct.

Those early experiments grew into the first products that would become Dapper Guru. The company was originally founded in Washington, D.C., where I developed and sold my early formulations while refining the craft. A few years later, I moved the business west to Montana — drawn by the landscape, the community, and the opportunity to run the company in a more intentional, grounded way. Surrounded by mountains, forests, and wide-open skies, Montana became the natural home for Dapper Guru and the inspiration behind many of our scents and philosophy.

Today, Dapper Guru continues to craft products that men actually enjoy using. Soaps that clean better and last longer. Solid colognes that travel easily and wear naturally. Fragrances inspired by the rugged character of the American West. Simple, dependable, and intentional, just the way it should be.
